Another example of this lack of knowledge occurred just the other day as I was listening to a podcast. I was shocked to hear the host, a mother of a five year old, was still unsure of how to get pregnant again. Her first pregnancy had been a surprise and repeating the happy accident was harder than she’d thought it would be.
Yes, both examples are pregnancy-based but this is a big indicator that the basic knowledge of how the female reproductive cycle with it’s four complementary phases works.
A woman that tracks her cycle and is in tune with her body will be highly aware when conception is possible and when it is not. Please keep in mind, the knowledge of how your body works should not be left until a moment when you might consider trying to have a baby! All women, from a young age, are entitled to understanding how their body works!
Many health challenges that a woman may face can be resolved by understanding how her body works and how best to nourish that body for glowing health. It is your responsibility to take care of yourself and the first step is becoming educated.
As a Health Coach (as well as a PPCES) that focuses on women’s health, including pregnancy and postpartum health, I have some great resources to share! I’ve included two books that really should be considered required reading for all women! Men, both young and old, could benefit greatly from understanding how the female body works so I’ll add this to their required reading list as well!
Kindara app + Wink - Everything that you learn in TCOYF can be implemented using the brilliant Kindara app + Wink. It is a great resource for all women but especially those who are trying to become pregnant or avoid pregnancy. I’ve used the Kindara app for many years and it’s just awesome! My annual doctor’s appointments are so much easier because I’ve recorded all of my cycle details every month. If I have a concern I can quickly refer to Kindara and provide detailed information to my doctor.
I know, you were expecting a much longer list but honestly this is it! Start with the TCOYF book and the Kindara app. When you’re ready to dive deeper read Womancode and use the My Flo app to begin making health inducing choices that support your cycle. How you live your life is going to change with this deeper knowledge of how your body and mind work. Educate yourself and then support the girls and women in your life towards their education.
The movement from societal ignorance to intelligence takes time but it begins right now with you.
